Derby Nation

When I first started playing roller derby I frantically looked for recommendations on wheels and found that it takes time and money, and what surface to find the perfect ones for you. With that being said, wheel evaluations helped me out a lot so instead of recommending I am just going to tell you about my experience with them.

I am 5'4" 115 lbs, I jam predominantly and grip is very important to me. I have both sets of these wheels and have skated in them on Sport Court, polished Concrete, painted concrete and wood rink.

Both of the wheels are VERY durable. If you are looking for longevity I can DEFINITELY attest to their lifespan.

The D-rods were over all a good wheel. They are a great blend of grip and speed. For Jamming, I might say they are perfect for sport court, and nearly perfect for wood rink as long as you keep them clean. They were just about worthless on concrete once they got dusty which was approximately 2 laps. I found they worked really really well in a flat out combo but again, I like grip. Because they are black you can't really tell when they are extra dirty which I like. They looked sleeker.

The G-rods are also a good wheel, worth the money but when I say sticky. I am understating. I could barely roll on the carpet at the rink. I like grip a lot and I think its possible they were the grippiest speed wheel I have tried. Not for sport court, pretty good but slowish on wood and perfect on painted or polished concrete. DEFINTELY good to have on hand for extra slick surfaces which is what I am going to use them for. They do turn a nasty shade of "I glow in the dark but its not dark" yellow when you use them often so if you are going to go with them I recommend going with the pink version that Sin City offers instead of the white.
