Of course, the other trick is qualifying for Eastern Regionals. With the rampant growth in WFTDA, even doubling the number of regions leaves some leagues out of the running if they're not ranked high enough in the next rankings vote.

It's my vague understanding that the tournaments will feature the top twelve teams from each region. Top four get a bye in the prelims.

Here's a gotcha though. If Montreal DOES qualify, would it be OK for the singer to do the English version of "O Canada" or would they want the French version? Interesting to me footnote: The meanings of the lyrics are VERY different.

We hosted Montreal in March 2008 and played both the U.S. and Canadian anthems otherwise we stick with the U.S. anthem.

They play both national anthems in Ithaca, NY as well!

Tee hee, I think it already needs an update. And a bigger map.

I know that Dutchland Derby Rollers and Montreal Roller Derby are now in the East division. I've already been to a bout in Buffalo where they sang both national anthems. Luckily, it's a hockey town, so there's always someone who knows both. That could be a bit harder to do in North Carolina, where this year's eastern regional tournament is being held.

Columbia QuadSquad too! Columbia is the capital of SC. We are working on two years together as a league. We have been able to practice with Atlanta, CRG, DC and we were able to go to VA Beach this year. Columbia SC has the derby fever we are selling 615 to 700 tickets our father's day bout we sold 815 tickets not too bad for a small city. We gave The Women's Shelter $2500 at our last bout...needless to say we are proud! Hopefully, this year we will be able to make more relationships with other derby teams close by.
