Derby Nation

There are so many drills out there and so many variations on the same theme but what is missing is the acknolegement of the person who took the time to develop the original idea. I dont know what do you think?

Not long ago, I would have agreed with this idea hands down. But, I'm also a first year P.E. Coach. While it is nice to be able to post your name as the creator of some thing, it is also nice to share. With all the responsibilities of coaches (on and off track) sometimes reinventing the wheel just isn't an option. And of course, whether your name is on that "thing" or not- eventually the creator gets lost in the shuffle of things. What's important for the creators to remember is that once you've shared your knowledge and creativity, you've left a legacy by enriching your sport. In this case, leaving a legacy in such a rapidly growing and increasingly respected sport, is so worthwhile to the derby community. So, my response...have I missed the mark? I really hope I at least touched on the topic. In consolation, anytime I implement a drill or give any advice- I always credit the person from whom I learned it. At least the way, if my student wants to trace the origins on her own- she knows where to start.

Cheerio Coach Pauly! (P.S. I saw you at RollerCon always at the least convenient of times. I so wanted to run up and praise some of your online advice that I've used in my league. Hope you had as much fun as I did!!)

Well let me just say that this post was not just for me but for all coaches out there in Derbydom. I did not mean it as a complaint but more as an awareness of the peoples time and efforts shared with the masses. Thank you for your thoughts and good luck in your career I coached other sports and let me tell you I remember every PE teacher I ever had .
