Don't know what it is, but I'm ultra-motivated recently. Driven. Focused. You'd never know it to look at my calendar for the month (geez, am I ever going to be stressed), but I'm moving myself forward.
Sunday's practice went really well, considering I was on severe cold medication and could barely breathe. I had to stop a few ties because of coughing fits, but I made it. Coach even commented that my overall stance is getting much better on the sprints. I still think I need to work on quick-quick-quick crossovers, but that will come in time.
About halfway through practice, Rick put myself, Mexican, and Panama Crack in as blockers against Scrappy Sue, one of our speediest blockers. The first time, she whizzed right past us. The second time, Mex and Panama took her out, and I held her off for a few more seconds before she came past me. First time I've ever blocked against an actual jammer, and I forget to use those bony shoulders of mine. :) Still, felt pretty cool for my first time out.
In other news, I've been doing the research on Florida teams, since it's looking like I may be living there for the summer. I'm thinking of contacting the
Molly Roger Rollergirls to see if I can skate at their practices this summer (provided that I have the night off of work). Still looking around, but they seem to be somewhat close and look to be a fun gang. If anyone knows of a league closer to the Orlando area, let me know.
Ok, enough from me. Derby love.
